I spent a number of years on the committee for the American Cancer Society - Relay 4 Life in Germantown. I will always remember and be touched by the young people in particular who served many many hours on the committee. Their ideas and eagerness were always what kept me going. I will also never forget how the stories of others affected by cancer touched my heart and put my own life into perspective. The memory of watching clutches of teenagers gathered around a luminary in honor of a mother or grandparent to comfort each other, or hearing a young girl ask me "if my mom had cancer does that mean I'm going to get it?" will be with me always. I will always be blessed by these experiences, even though some were deeply sad, some were joyous. Truly, volunteering to help has touched me in ways I can't even explain - it has been good for my heart I pray that our results will be good for the lives of others. S.R., Germantown
